Tiffy's Bday, Yardsales, and a Puppy?!

Our vacation continued...

The day after we returned from Idaho it was Tiffy's 24th birthday!  She wanted to check out some yardsales and Jed happily obliged.  At one of the yardsales there was a man with a puppy.  Drake was so sweet and gentle with the puppy it made us get the crazy thought in our head that he had grown up and was now ready for a puppy (Wookie, Drakes first puppy had been gone for almost 8 months at this time).  We spent the rest of the day trying to find the perfect puppy for the boys... and we did!  Drake named the little guy SPIKE PETERSON and he was in love from the very beginning.  The first week or so was amazing and the whole family fell in love with the pup.  Well...everyone except Phoenix!  Our sweet little Phoenix who was always so kind and gentle with everything and everyone was not quite old enough for a puppy.  He did not understand that Spike just wanted to play when he nipped at him and so it would turn into a dramatic episode every hour.  Spike would nip at Phoenix...Phoenix would grab Spike's hair...Spike would bite Phoenix...Phoenix would pass out...Drake would yell at Spike...and Tiffy was going crazy.  Ultimately Papa Bear and Momma Bear decided that Phoenix was not old enough and we found spike a new home.  It broke our hearts to see him go, but we feel it was the best decision for Spike and our family.

We love you Spike!  We hope that you have a long and happy life.  Thank you for being a part of our family for those few short weeks....

Back to the story...  Jed ended up buying Tiffy a new dryer for her birthday and surprising her with a BBQ with her Mom and sister Tristine.  Our vacation ended simple and in the comfort of our own home.  It was perfect.  We could not have planned it out any better than it happened.  That is the beauty of being spontaneous.

Thank you for sharing these memories with us!

Vacation 2011...

We finally got around to taking a family
vacation this year!  We headed out on
Jul 28th and spent a whole day at Lagoon…
Jed's Interpretation of this picture:
A handsome mountainman came into the town to visit his saloon
girl and two outlaws robbed them and took everything, except
their whiskey… but not before stopping to take a picture! Haha…

Phoenix did not like the fact that he had to get off the rides...

Travis (her > boyfriend), Janessa, Morgan
Drake standing next to "The worlds smallest man"
(according to Lagoon)
Rueben, Drake, Brendan (her > boyfriend)
Michaela, and Jed

Owling...

After lagoon Michaela (Tiff’s sister) and
Brendan joined us at a hotel for a nice
relaxing night of swimming and soaking
in the spa.  We have to admit… we fell
asleep around 9pm!  It was a loooong day
and the rest was needed.

The next day we decided to throw caution to the wind and forget all of our plans…

We stopped in Idaho Falls at the Bodies Exhibition.  The pictures are a little graphic, but if any of you would like to see what it is all about here is the link: http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/ Some of the content of the exhibit was hard to stomach, but for the most part it was interesting and informational.

After the Exhibit we stopped and saw the falls and bought snow cones.  We decided to head south from there and were able to make it to one of Jed’s favorite road trip stops:  The Army Depot store somewhere off of I-15 and in Idaho.  We were able to get some really good duffel bags for an amazingly good deal and a few other essentials and then we were on the road again…

Food was our next goal and so we stopped at a cafĂ©.  All of the booths were designed as wagon carts and it was really unique.  The food was yummy too!  While we were eating Jed posed the idea to go visit some of his family in Idaho.  Unfortunately everywhere we stopped no one was home (they must have heard we were coming haha).  The boys were also having a hard time being away from home and in a car and so we decided to go and finish our last few days of vacation at home as a family.  We dropped Michaela and Brendan off and when we got home we snuggled up on the couch and watched movies as a family.

Saturday… our world changed.  One word... SPIKE…

We are going to need another post for this story lol…
